Underground electrical service relocation

Moving customer-owned service equipment or converting an overhead route to underground requires a coordinated electrical and utility plan.

When this work makes sense

  • A planned change to the service location
  • Construction that affects overhead routing
  • An approved underground conversion

The electrical work

Relocate customer-owned service equipment and install the underground service raceway and related wiring.

Electrical portion for roughly 50–100 ft. Utility design/fees, trenching and surface restoration excluded.

Estimated pricing

$7,200–$16,200 per electrical scope

Project ranges include labor and standard installation materials unless a listing says otherwise. Hourly rates are labor only, and equipment you supply (such as chargers, fixtures or fans) is not included. Permit fees and sales tax are additional. Estimates are free, including on-site visits.

Electrical work may require openings in walls or ceilings. Drywall patching, texture, and painting are not included and must be arranged with others.

What affects the scope and cost

  • Utility design and permitted equipment location
  • Raceway distance
  • Trench and surface restoration responsibility

A common question

Can the electrical installation be designed before the utility reviews it?

Preliminary planning can begin, but utility design and requirements affect the final arrangement. The electrical price does not include utility fees, trenching and surface restoration.
