Residential electrical services

Main panel replacement · same amperage

Replacing the distribution panel can address unsuitable equipment while keeping the existing service capacity. This is not the same scope as an amperage upgrade.

When this work makes sense

  • Deteriorated panel equipment
  • Unavailable or unsuitable replacement components
  • A planned like-for-like modernization

The electrical work

Replace the existing breaker panel and transfer existing branch circuits without increasing service size.

Standard panel and breakers included. Meter/service reconstruction and smart panels excluded.

Estimated pricing

$3,150–$5,400 per panel

Project ranges include labor and standard installation materials unless a listing says otherwise. Hourly rates are labor only, and equipment you supply (such as chargers, fixtures or fans) is not included. Permit fees and sales tax are additional. Estimates are free, including on-site visits.

Electrical work may require openings in walls or ceilings. Drywall patching, texture, and painting are not included and must be arranged with others.

What affects the scope and cost

  • Panel condition and access
  • Existing circuit cleanup
  • Meter or service reconstruction if separately needed

A common question

Does this price include increasing service amperage?

No. The approved $3,150–$5,400 range is for same-amperage panel replacement. A capacity upgrade or meter reconstruction is a separately assessed scope.
