Residential electrical services

Attached-garage subpanel installation

A subpanel brings distribution closer to garage loads. It creates local circuit space but does not itself increase the home’s service capacity.

When this work makes sense

  • Workshop equipment in an attached garage
  • Several planned garage circuits
  • Reducing long individual circuit routes

The electrical work

Install a feeder, breaker and subpanel to supply garage circuits.

Attached garage, approximately 25–50 ft feeder. Branch circuits and service upgrade excluded.

Estimated pricing

$1,620–$3,150 per project

Project ranges include labor and standard installation materials unless a listing says otherwise. Hourly rates are labor only, and equipment you supply (such as chargers, fixtures or fans) is not included. Permit fees and sales tax are additional. Estimates are free, including on-site visits.

Electrical work may require openings in walls or ceilings. Drywall patching, texture, and painting are not included and must be arranged with others.

What affects the scope and cost

  • Feeder length and access
  • Calculated garage demand
  • Main panel capacity and location

A common question

Are the garage outlets and appliance circuits included?

The estimated range covers the feeder and subpanel for an attached garage. New branch circuits and any service upgrade are priced separately.
