Main Electrical Service & Panels

Whole-home energy monitor / smart panel monitoring

Install an add-on current-transformer energy monitor and configure its app.

What this service involves

Install an add-on current-transformer energy monitor and configure its app.

Typical scope and limits: Range is for an Emporia-style monitor. A full SPAN panel replacement is a separate project, estimated at $6500–$11000.

Who usually needs it

Homeowners with a worn or tripping breaker, a missing or unreadable panel directory, or a request for added protection inside an existing panel.

Estimated pricing

$450–$900 per monitor

Priced per monitor. This is a planning range, not a quote.

Project ranges include labor and standard installation materials unless a listing says otherwise. Hourly rates are labor only, and equipment you supply (such as chargers, fixtures or fans) is not included. Permit fees and sales tax are additional. Estimates are free, including on-site visits.

Electrical work may require openings in walls or ceilings. Drywall patching, texture, and painting are not included and must be arranged with others.

What an electrician evaluates first

  • The specific breaker or circuits involved
  • Breaker compatibility with the existing panel
  • Panel condition as found
  • Available spaces where something is being added

Typical work sequence

  1. Confirm the circuits and goal
  2. Briefly de-energize affected circuits
  3. Replace, add or trace as agreed
  4. Test and label

Access and disruption

Work happens at the existing panel and, for tracing, at outlets and fixtures around the home. The service and meter are not replaced in this work.

Permits and inspection

Some panel work, such as replacing or adding breakers, may need an electrical permit depending on the work and the permitting authority for the address. True confirms this before scheduling.

Helpful, safe photos

The closed panel and its label, plus a photo of the existing directory if there is one. Only photograph what is safely visible — never remove electrical covers.

Questions

Will the power be off?

Only the affected circuits, or briefly the whole panel when a breaker must be replaced safely.

Does this replace my panel?

No. This work keeps your existing panel. If the panel itself is failing, True will explain replacement options and pricing first.
