What this service involves

Install the electrical feeds and disconnect arrangement required by a swim spa.

Typical scope and limits: Typical 50–100A-equivalent scope and 25–50 ft. Multiple equipment supplies, trenching and service upgrades extra.

Who usually needs it

Homeowners installing or replacing ranges, induction cooktops, dryers, water heaters, pumps, spas or other equipment that needs its own circuit.

Estimated pricing

$1,800–$4,050 per spa hookup

Priced per spa hookup. This is a planning range, not a quote.

Project ranges include labor and standard installation materials unless a listing says otherwise. Hourly rates are labor only, and equipment you supply (such as chargers, fixtures or fans) is not included. Permit fees and sales tax are additional. Estimates are free, including on-site visits.

Electrical work may require openings in walls or ceilings. Drywall patching, texture, and painting are not included and must be arranged with others.

What an electrician evaluates first

  • The appliance nameplate and installation instructions
  • Available panel capacity and spaces
  • Distance and route from the panel
  • Required disconnects and protection

Typical work sequence

  1. Confirm the equipment requirements
  2. Plan the route
  3. Install the breaker, cable or conduit and receptacle or connection
  4. Test and coordinate with the appliance installer

Access and disruption

Routes through finished walls can need openings. Appliance delivery, plumbing and venting are by others.

Permits and inspection

New circuits, equipment changes and most wiring alterations normally need an electrical permit and inspection. In Washington, Labor & Industries issues electrical permits except in cities that run their own electrical program, so the permitting authority depends on the property address rather than the mailing city. True confirms the correct authority before work starts. Permit fees are additional to the estimate.

Helpful, safe photos

The appliance model label or spec sheet, the intended location and the closed panel. Only photograph what is safely visible — never remove electrical covers.

Questions

Can I reuse my old range or dryer circuit?

Sometimes. The new equipment’s rating and the existing conductors must match.

Is the appliance included?

No. Estimates cover the electrical work; appliances and their non-electrical installation are separate.
