Recessed outlet for a wall-mounted TV

A suitable recessed power connection can place electrical supply behind a television without routing a flexible power cord through a wall.

When this work makes sense

  • A television on a new wall location
  • Visible power cables
  • Planning outlets before the TV is mounted

The electrical work

Install a recessed power box behind a television from a nearby suitable circuit.

TV mounting, data cabling and drywall repair excluded.

Estimated pricing

$270–$585 per location

Project ranges include labor and standard installation materials unless a listing says otherwise. Hourly rates are labor only, and equipment you supply (such as chargers, fixtures or fans) is not included. Permit fees and sales tax are additional. Estimates are free, including on-site visits.

Electrical work may require openings in walls or ceilings. Drywall patching, texture, and painting are not included and must be arranged with others.

What affects the scope and cost

  • Suitable nearby circuit
  • Wall construction and box position
  • Separate power and data routes

A common question

Does this include hanging the television?

No. The price does not include TV mounting, data cabling and drywall repair. Electrical location and any other installer responsibilities should be coordinated before the mounting is finished.
