What this service involves

Install a compatible alarm network using new wiring or an approved listed interconnection approach.

Typical scope and limits: Standard devices included. Accessibility and required power/interconnect method determine scope.

Who usually needs it

Homeowners adding network cabling, Wi-Fi access-point drops, PoE cameras or wired smoke alarms. True does not provide complete security systems or alarm monitoring.

Estimated pricing

$1,080–$2,250 per six-alarm system

Priced per six-alarm system. This is a planning range, not a quote.

Project ranges include labor and standard installation materials unless a listing says otherwise. Hourly rates are labor only, and equipment you supply (such as chargers, fixtures or fans) is not included. Permit fees and sales tax are additional. Estimates are free, including on-site visits.

Electrical work may require openings in walls or ceilings. Drywall patching, texture, and painting are not included and must be arranged with others.

What an electrician evaluates first

  • Cable routes and access
  • Equipment locations and power needs
  • Network equipment location
  • Device compatibility

Typical work sequence

  1. Plan locations
  2. Run and terminate cable
  3. Mount and power devices
  4. Test continuity and operation

Access and disruption

Cable routing can need small openings; attics and crawlspaces help.

Permits and inspection

New circuits, equipment changes and most wiring alterations normally need an electrical permit and inspection. In Washington, Labor & Industries issues electrical permits except in cities that run their own electrical program, so the permitting authority depends on the property address rather than the mailing city. True confirms the correct authority before work starts. Permit fees are additional to the estimate.

Helpful, safe photos

The equipment location, router or network closet, and the intended device spots. Only photograph what is safely visible — never remove electrical covers.

Questions

Do you set up camera and doorbell apps?

Yes. Mounting, wiring, app setup and connecting the device to your Wi-Fi are included. If a home network problem prevents the connection, that needs to be resolved by the homeowner. Alarm monitoring services are not offered.

Can cameras be powered by network cable?

PoE cameras receive power and data through one cable from a PoE switch or injector.
